The Village Solution — A Living Course on Belonging

Proposed scope for a 1-hour, half-day, and full-day course built around Carl Nassar's body of work on belonging. Designed not to teach belonging, but to slow people down, let them feel seen, and walk them home to one another.

Not a finished case study. A plan, written for Carl, that we'd shape together on a call.

The course opens the way Carl opens his rooms. Warm, unhurried, you-belong-here from the first frame.
Carl's voice carries the spine, drawn from talks he has already given. No new filming.
Reflection pauses designed for breath, not clicks. The course holds space.
An optional companion grounded in Carl's words, for a heavy moment between lessons.
One tender village move per chapter. A small, doable invitation back to one another.
Imagery curated from licensed and original sources. The village, made visible without ever pretending.

Project Overview

Carl Nassar is a therapist, an author, and a speaker whose work is about belonging. He has spent twenty-five years sitting with more than ten thousand people, written a body of work that names the loss of the village we were built for, and now wants to turn that work into a living online course people can find their way home through.

The brief is unusual. Most course briefs are about transferring knowledge. Carl's brief is about reaching people. The course has to do what he does in the room: slow people down, let them feel seen, and give them small acts that bring the village back into their week. Information without warmth would betray the subject.

The proposed build is one body of work in three living formats. The 1-hour version is the seed, the half-day grows from the same spine with more reflection and practice, and the full-day expands into deeper material with small-group ritual. All three share the same warmth, the same on-camera presence, and the same invitation: you belong here.

Interactivity is held lightly. A few gentle reflection prompts the learner can speak or type into, an optional companion voice trained on Carl's words for in-between moments, and the option of a multilingual edition so the work can land in someone's mother tongue. None of it performs. All of it serves presence.

The course can live on Teachable as the simplest home, or we can build a fully custom platform if Carl wants the experience to feel like nothing else out there. Either way the chapter interactives are custom-built for this work (not bolted on from a template), and Carl's presence stays at the heart, woven from talks he has already given.

What's Inside

The 1-Hour Seed

Six gentle chapters with Carl's voice carrying the spine, paced for one sitting and built to send people home with one small village move.

The Half-Day

The same spine, opened up. Longer reflection prompts, a guided practice between chapters, and a closing letter learners write to themselves.

The Full-Day

Deeper material from Carl's writing and talks, plus a small-group ritual segment for people taking the course together as a circle.

Carl's Voice, Woven In

No new filming. We work from his existing recorded talks, writing, and Village Letter posts, pulling the moments that become the spine of every chapter.

Gentle Reflection Prompts

Learners can speak or type a short answer when they want to. The prompts don't grade, they hold. Used sparingly, only where they deepen the lesson.

An Optional Companion (Carl's Voice)

A quiet between-session companion grounded in Carl's writing and talks, that a learner can return to with a question or a heavy moment. Off by default. Used only when it serves.

Multilingual Edition (Optional)

A second avatar host alongside Carl, so the work can land in someone's mother tongue. The village wasn't in one language and the course doesn't have to be either.

Village Moves

One tender, doable invitation per chapter that puts the village back into the learner's week.

What Carl Brings

  • A body of work on belonging: writing, recorded talks, and sets of activities, already shaped by twenty-five years of practice
  • His voice in the recordings and writing he's already made, which is the platform the course rests on (no new filming asked of him)
  • His social media manager, partner on the marketing side, drawing people gently to the work
  • A clear stance on what belonging is and is not, that keeps the build honest at every step
  • The Village Letter and his existing community, which the course can land into rather than launch into empty air

Design and Build Process

01

Sit With the Work

Two weeks of reading, listening, and watching everything Carl already has. Writing, talks, activities, Village Letter posts. No course design until I can feel the shape of the work.

02

Design the Spine

Map the body of work to a single spine that holds all three formats. Define one outcome per chapter, where the outcome is what learners feel and do, not what they recall.

03

Curate Carl's Existing Voice

No new filming. We work from Carl's recorded talks, writing, and Village Letter posts, pulling the moments that become the spine. ElevenLabs fills any small bridge passages, in his voice, only where he wants it.

04

Build the 1-Hour First

The 1-hour is the seed, so it gets built first and tested with a small circle from Carl's readers. Half-day and full-day grow from what the 1-hour teaches us.

05

Open the Platform

Teachable storefront, course pages, certificate, and email cadence (or a fully custom platform if Carl wants to go bespoke). Carl's social media manager and I share a calendar of soft launches, with the Village Letter as the first wave.

Tools and Stack

Course Home
Teachable as the simplest home, with a branded storefront, course player, certificates, and email. Or we build a fully custom platform if Carl wants the experience to feel like nothing else out there.
Lesson Interactives
Custom-built web interactives for the chapter moments. No off-the-shelf templates. Gentle reflection prompts, soft transitions, and a few small ritual screens, used sparingly.
Companion (Optional)
A quiet between-session companion grounded in Carl's writing and talks, with sub-second response and Carl's voice via ElevenLabs if he wants it. Off by default.
Carl's Voice
Sourced from his existing recorded talks, podcast appearances, and Village Letter audio. ElevenLabs available for small bridge passages, in his voice, only where he wants it.
Multilingual Edition
HeyGen for an avatar second-host alongside Carl, so the work can land in someone's mother tongue.
Motion
Lottie and a touch of After Effects for the small motion that softens transitions. Never to perform.
Marketing
Built alongside Carl's social media manager. Village Letter on Substack as the first wave, with launch tiles and a small-circle facilitator's note. No paid ads in the first round.

Deliverables

  • Carl's voice across the spine, woven from his existing talks and writing
  • A marketing rollout built alongside Carl's social media manager, with the Village Letter as the first wave
